Grade II Listed House, Lindley, Huddersfield

Calls Architecture are working with the owners of this charming grade II listed cottage on a series of major improvements and repairs.  Listed building consent was granted for the works in August 2020.

The property is one end of a terrace of cottages built during the 18th century.  The traditional domestic buildings are constructed of local hammer-dressed sandstone walls and pitched stone slate roofs.  The cottages were for a brief period used as the village Methodist Chapel.

The proposals make sympathetic alterations to improve the layout and increase natural light whilst retaining the original charm and character of the house.  The principle alteration is a loft conversion to form a habitable room, with associated alterations to provide a safe escape.

Other repairs include a new kitchen, a new doorway, steps and handrail to the garden, re-roofing with new roof-lights, removal of cement render and re-rendering in lime, re-pointing, new sash windows and new paneled doors.
