Bankside, Kirkstall Road, Leeds

A mixed-use regeneration scheme on the edge of Leeds City Centre, which has been granted outline planning permission. The site is a former chemical works, which straddles the River Aire and sits adjacent to the Leeds Liverpool Canal.

The proposals form a sustainable and diverse community, including residential and business space, together with social infrastructure totalling over a million sq. ft. of accommodation. Emphasis is upon variety and mix, with residential units ranging from studios to large family houses.

The urban design strategy concentrates upon making great places - new public squares on the waterside, residential streets and gardens, a new river crossing and pedestrian priority landscapes. Bankside, Leeds was designed in association with Studio Tod for Gladedale.
