Brontë House School was founded in 1934 as a preparatory school attached to Woodhouse Grove School, founded in 1812 by the Methodist Conference.

The original house was built in 1872 and forms the hub of the school. The house has connections with Charlotte Brontë, who was a former governess to the household. The school is a Grade II listed building.

The long term thinking involved careful consideration of the historical significance, future needs, circulation strategies, phasing and procurement, together with preliminary budget estimates for the options identified.
